So Many Things to Talk About! Ack!

HAPPY 2009!

First and foremost - HAPPY NEW YEAR! Ok, so it took me more than a week to get around to that, but hey, I'm a busy lady! :)

Gary and I were fortunate enough to celebrate the dawning of 2009 in New York City! We had a fabulous (albeit chilly) trip! We were able to spend some time with my brother, Zak, and one of our good friends, Amy, while we were there. I sure do miss both of them (and wish them well in their pursuit of Broadway dreams!) Speaking of Broadway, we saw the amazing "Spring Awakening" TWICE on our trip - once from the orchestra section and once from the on-stage seats. HOLY COW it was amazing - there is not enough room in this blog for me to gush about this show and how extraordinary it is. Wow. I want to go again.... now......... We also saw "Wicked" which was also amazing! It's the first time I've seen it (lucky Gary got to see the tour when it last came through Denver). I love New York - I can't wait for our next opportunity to visit. :)

CYT Denver Happenings
Hold onto your hats - the Winter 2008-09 Session productions are upon us!

The CYT Parker production of "The Sound of Music" opens on January 23rd and runs for 2 weekends.

The CYT Highlands Ranch production of "High School Musical: On Stage" opens on February 13 and runs for 2 weekends also.

For tickets to either one of these productions, please CLICK HERE or visit http://www.cytdenver.org/boxoffice/ to order your tickets online. Sales are brisk - get your tickets today!

CYT Denver will be holding it's Third Annual Silent Auction on February 13 & 14 in conjunction with the performance of "High School Musical". The silent auction is CYT Denver's major annual fundraiser that helps offset operating costs and helps to keep tuition and production fees low. I hope to see everybody there - there are going to be some great items up for bidding! PS - If you are interested in making a donation of an item or service to the silent auction, please email me or leave me a comment so that I can get you in touch with the right people! Bonus - CYT Denver is a 501(c)(3) organization so any donations are tax deductible!

Registration for the Spring Session of classes in both Parker and Highlands Ranch opens soon! Don't miss out on your opportunity to be part of the fun - check out www.cytdenver.org for more details on upcoming registration and other events.

Other Cool Stuff
Gary and I are off to Tucson this week (considerably warmer than New York this time of year) for the CYT Semi-Annual Advisory Board meeting. Gary gets to work (but it's fun work), I get to hang out. Woo hoo!

My birthday is coming up and I'm trying to think of what cool party to have this year. It's hard to beat Casa Bonita though....... I may have to go there again this year....... :)

Upcoming CYT Denver events!

I thought I'd take a minute to update everybody on some great upcoming events for CYT Denver - Theater for Kids. (I'm a music director & teacher for CYT - and my hubby is the Artistic Director for the organization so I know a little bit about the current happenings... :) )

If you've never heard of CYT before, let me fill you in - it's a non-profit, after school arts program for kids ages 6-18. There are currently two areas in Denver - one in Highlands Ranch and one in Parker (on the national level, CYT is the largest children's theater company in the USA!). Each area offers three 10-week class sessions a year in acting, singing, dancing & other aspects of the theater arts. Every enrolled student also has the opportunity to audition for a full-scale, Broadway-style musical each session. Classes and productions are taught and directed by local theater/performing arts professionals. It's a BLAST!

Blog #1

Wow, my first blog. I feel so.... technical. Not necessarily new for me, I've been technical for a long time, but this blogging thing is definitely new.

So, I guess I'll start with a little bit about me. I've been happily married since August 11, 2001 to Gary Hathaway - an intense and amazing man, definitely the love of my life. Did I mention he's amazing? My step-daughter, Cassie, is a senior in high school - that's just plain crazy. I have three cats, a bird, and a St. Bernard. On a side note, St. Bernards make surprisingly good "small living space" dogs.

Professionally speaking, I'm an actress and a singer, a graphic designer and a teacher. I try to be certain that I never have free time - that would be boring.

Of course, if I were to have free time.... I'm sure I would write some cool blogs that you might be interested in.... you never know....
